Imoke Moves Out Of Governor’s Lodge

Following the Supreme Court judgement this morning, Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke has formally vacated office and he started to pack his bag and baggage out of the Governor’s lodge known as Peregrino Lodge in Calabar, the state capital.

Imoke, who seems to have had an insight into the ruling, was gradually moving his personal effects out of the Governor’s Lodge and had kept a low profile for some days now.

Unlike the 2008 nullification of his election by the Appeal Court in Calabar, when his wife Obioma Imoke and the deputy governor’s wife, Mrs. Efiok Cobham openly wept uncontrollably, this time around, they take consolation in the fact that Imoke had won the PDP ticket to contest a rescheduled election by INEC.

Efforts to reach his press secretary, Mr. Omini Oden were unsuccessful.

The Calabar metropolis has remained calm since the news came to residents of the state today like a whirlwind.

As at press time, the speaker of the State House of Assembly who will steps in as acting governor, Mr. Larry Odey has not been sworn in.
