Nigeria Police PRO Shines At UN, Receives Commendation Letter
It was a moment of glory for the former Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Oyo State Police Command, Olabisi Okwuwobi in particular, and the Nigeria Police in general, as she stepped forward to receive a commendation letter from the United Nations Police, for her outstanding performance, while at United Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
She was in Liberia for 15 months, where she served as the public information officer. In the commendation letter, encomiums were showered on her for her dedication and professional commitment in support of the development and capacity building of the Liberian National Police (LNP).
The letter said: “You have steadfastly displayed outstanding work ethic and initiative, working closely with your LNP counterpart and serving as a public information officer in the UNPOL Community Policing and Public Information Team. Through your tenure in UNMIL, you have strive to strengthen the public face of the mission and UNPOL.
Among the area in which your support was significant, is that of media monitoring, facilitating international media visits to the mission area; capacity building of Liberia National Police Press and Public Affairs Office, coordination with UNMIL Public Information, including providing content for publication in ‘UNMIL Today’ and ‘UN Focus.’
Particularly noteworthy is your hard work in facilitating the production of jingles during the campaign on Child-Rape and LNP female recruitment and in the preparation for a fruitful and productive 2011 Road Safety Week. Your performance has been in accordance with the highest tradition of the United Nations and in complete conformance with the organization’s expectations of behaviour and commitment to duty.”
The letter, which was dated, January 24, 2012, and signed by UN Police Commissioner, United Nations Mission in Liberia, Gautam Sawang, concluded by saying: “ For your significant contributions through your hard work and professional abilities during the period under review, you are presented this Letter of Commendation.”
